The Piper nigrum belongs to the family of Piperaceae, a flowering vine with tiny fruits called peppercorn approximately 5 millimeters in diameter. Black pepper is produced from green unripe drupes of the pepper plant.
Black pepper is a native of the hills of western India and of wet tropical forests. Just like its significant uses today, Black Pepper was an extremely important commodity for seasoning or preserving meats as well as medicine back in the Middle Ages.

Warming Salve
¼ cup Solid Coconut Oil
¼ cup Olive Oil
1 Tbsp Beeswax Pastilles
1/8 tsp Vitamin E (optional)
24 drops Black Pepper Essential Oil
1 – 4-ounce Glass Jar
Melt Beeswax, Coconut Oil and Olive Oil in a Pyrex Measuring Bowl with spout and handle, and set inside deep sauce pan with 3 inches of water using low heat. Stir occasionally to keep beeswax melting. Be careful not to splash water into the oils as this could cause mold issues. When everything is melted, remove from heat and add Vitamin E. Prepare jar by adding the Black Pepper Essential Oil. Add melted oils and stir. Cover jar with paper towel and let sit at least 6 hours until solid. Seal snuggly with lid. Six month shelf life.
