Description: From Lamiaceae Family, Basil plants grow from 30 to 130 cm tall, with small light green smooth leaves 3 to 10 cm. long by 1 to 6 cm. wide. Basil grows best in hot and dry climate conditions under direct sunlight but needs enough watering. It can also be cultivated in a green house or in pots.

History: In Greek its name means 'royal remedy' or 'king'. In the 16th century, powdered basil was used to treat migraines and chest infections. The ancient Egyptians believed that it would open the gates of heaven to a dying person. The Hindus used Basil sprigs to protect the dead from evil while in transition between lives.
Use Safely: Generally safe to use. Simply follow instructions to dilute. The International Federation of Aromatherapists does not recommend that Essential Oils be taken internally unless under the supervision of a Medical Doctor who is also qualified in clinical Aromatherapy.
