Reduce Muscle Pain with This All-Natural Rub
If your muscles have been super sore lately, you’re not alone! This time of the year brings on quite a bit more muscle pain than we’re used to. Between shoveling the snow and trying to take control of our New Year’s resolutions to stay fit, we’re often left with a bit of soreness. But have no fear! We have the perfect recipe for you - an all-natural muscle rub!
The fractionated coconut oil and beeswax in this rub serve as a hydrating base and help give this rub it’s smooth texture.
The eucalyptus and peppermint essential oils are great for a refreshing and cooling sensation. The lavender oil provides a calming effect. The combination of these oils helps to increase circulation and relieve pain.
The combination of cayenne, ginger and turmeric provide a heated sensation and help increase blood flow to the sore area. Increased blood flow supports the healing process. This combination also works as an anti inflammatory to reduce swelling.
If you struggle with pain or discomfort in your muscles, this natural DIY is perfect for you.
Here's how to make it:
¼ c. beeswax
10 drops eucalyptus essential oil
10 drops peppermint essential oil
10 drops lavender essential oil
½ tsp. cayenne powder
½ tsp. turmeric powder
½ tsp. ground ginger
Heat up a sauce pan. Put the fractionated coconut oil and the beeswax in the pan and stir until melted. This should be a very quick process.
Once the wax is melted and the two are combined, mix in the cayenne, ginger and turmeric. Allow the mixture to cool slightly before adding in the essential oils. Adding the essential oils in too early can cause the heat to change their composition.
Once you’ve mixed in the oils, pour in the jar and allow to cool. The balm should solidify. Use whenever you need some pain relief in your muscles!
