Make your Own All-Natural Tinted Lip Balm

It’s almost Valentine’s Day and a date night with my husband is what I look forward to every year. I know it’s cheesy and cliche but it’s fun to have a night out once in a while. Plus, it is a celebration of love!

On date nights, I like looking a little fancy. I don’t know much about makeup or even how to apply eyeshadow properly. Glamming up isn’t really second nature to me as it to others! I’m also afraid of the nasty chemicals they put in makeups today. These days, my makeup are all made by me.

Now my idea of glamming up isn’t the same as you. Mine is simply adding a tinted lip balm to my normal makeup routine.

Make your Own All-Natural Tinted Lip Balm

Recipe by Katie Veldkamp

Ingredients

Directions

  • In a small double boiler or jar resting in 2 inches of water, gently heat the beetroot powder, almond oil, and coconut oil for 1 hour. Strain the infused oil into a clean bowl or jar. Do not force powder through strainer as this will make your lip gloss grainy.
  • Add beeswax. Stir until melted together, gently heating if necessary.
  • Remove from stove top and stir in the essential oil. Immediately pour the mixture into tin. Allow to cool.
  • To use, apply tinted lip balm to lips for a silky shine with a natural pink hue.

Notes

  • Tip: for a darker tint, infuse longer. This will create a bolder color for your lips.
